Until I started taking photos, I hadn't appreciated the tremendous diversity of flies. They come in every shape and size, mimic everything from wasps to moths, and eat everything from pollen to human blood. There are approximately 25,000 described species of flies in the U.S., a few thousand less than the number of described beetles.
